What is your Return Policy?

Most items purchased at Redwood Trading Post can be returned within 30 days of purchase as long as the following criteria are met:

Items are accompanied with the original store receipt or invoice
Items are in original packaging with all labels and tags attached
Items are in new and unused condition

Refunds for qualifying returns will be issued to the original form of payment (eg cash for cash, credit for credit). Payments made with check must wait one week before a refund is given to ensure the check clears.

Refunds for items returned by mail will be processed within 30 days of our receipt of the returned item(s). Please note that refunds for gift returns will be issued to the original purchaser.

If the return is past 30 days or if the store receipt is missing, we will issue a store credit, but no refund can be given. In the absence of a receipt, the amount of credit will be for the lowest price the item has been sold in the previous 12 months.

There are certain items that cannot be returned:

Food
Items marked as “close-out”
Used or surplus items
Climbing equipment (eg., carabiners or rope)

How to return by mail:

1: Box the item securely and include all original packaging and tags.

2: Also include in box:

the receipt or invoice along with your name, address, phone number, and email. Please also briefly describe the reason for your return (defective, wrong size, etc).

3: Mail the package back to our store:

We recommend using a carrier that can provide tracking and insurance. Redwood Trading Post is not responsible for items damaged or lost in transit.

Note: Items mailed to us that do not meet the return criteria listed above will be returned to sender.

What is your Coupon Policy?

Limit one coupon per customer per mailing
Must present original coupon to receive discount
Discount excludes: sale items, sunglasses, knives & multi-tools, watches, binoculars, tactical flashlights, Thermarest, 5.11 Tactical, Pelican, Get x Go, GoPro, Yeti coolers, Coleman, Goal Zero, Propane heaters, gift cards, special orders, and previous purchases.

What is the Rewards Program?

Redwood Trading Post offers a FREE rewards program that allows members to earn 5% store credit on all purchases made annually, once a member has spent a minimum of $100 at our store.

Why do you need my contact information? Are you going to share my mailing and email addresses?
- We will NOT share your information with anyone
- We periodically (3-4 times per year) mail out discount coupons to our rewards customers and don't want you to miss out!
- When you shop at Redwood Trading Post, our cashiers will look up your account by the phone number you provide when you sign up.

I think I've already signed up, but I'm not sure. Is there a way to check?
- Yes! Just send us an email (be sure to include your first and last name) and ask us to check and see if you're already a member.

Does the guy with the mullet still work there?

Yes, Jim still works at Redwood Trading Post (although, he no longer has a mullet).

I don't see an option to purchase very many products from your website. Do I have to come to the store to buy an item that doesn't have a purchase option on your website?

No, you don't have to come to the store! You can buy any of our products online. Just send us an email and let us know what you want to purchase. We will send you a link that will allow you to purchase that item within 24 hours.

Isn't the Redwood Trading Post located on El Camino Real, not Veterans Blvd.?

Great question! We moved to our current location, 1455 Veterans Blvd. in Redwood City, in March 2016. Our shop was located on El Camino just one block south of Jefferson Avenue from 1974 until we relocated in 2016. To read more about the history of Redwood Trading Post, check out our About page.
